What to Expect

Pick up from your hotel or residence at 1000 hrs local time. Drive towards the Nairobi National Park to Sheldrick Baby Elephant Orphanage which is open 1 hr daily. Due to the strict open and closing times, the Sheldrick Baby Elephant Orphanage Safari can only be conducted between 1100 hrs and 1200 hrs local time every day. Apart from seeing the elephants being fed and playing, you will hear from the orphanages keeper who will give a talk about the elephants, where they came from, how they are getting on, and how some of the previous orphans are progressing. In this African City Safari, you can get really close to the elephants.

The orphanage also takes in rhinos and so if you are lucky you will get the chance to see a young rhino.

You will then continue to the Karen Blixen Museum which was a home to Karen Blixen, a Danish European settler and author of Out of Africa.

Later proceed to the Giraffe Centre to see and hand feed the famous endangered species of Rothschild Giraffe and her family.

Return to the hotel at approximately.

Day 1, Part 1Sheldrick Baby Elephant Orphanage
