This African City Safari includes a visit to Carnivore experience.
Departs at 1200 hrs. and 1900 hrs. We recommend dinner or lunch at the carnivore which is famous for the succulent stew and barbecue dishes of game meat, as an ‘add on’ Kenya’s special visit. This will form an excellent welcome or farewell dinner/lunch.
How it’s done at the Carnivore Restaurant experience.
Whole joints of meat – leg of lamb and pork, ostrich, rump of beef, sirloin, rack of lamb, spare ribs, sausages, chicken wings, skewered kidneys, even crocodile – are roasted on traditional Maasai swords over a huge, charcoal pit that dominates the entrance of the restaurant.
First, the soup of the day along with a plate of home baked brown bread and butter are served, then a sizzling cast-iron plate is placed in front of each guest as an army of carvers move table to table, swords laden with prime meats carving juicy cuts onto the hot plates. Accompanying the meat feast is a wide selection of salads and vegetable side dishes, as well as a variety of sauces stacked onto a double storey revolving tray at the center of the table.
The feeding frenzy doesn’t stop until defeat is declared by the over-fed guests who signal that enough is enough by lowering the white paper flag perched atop the central tray. This is followed by dessert and coffee.
Another famous feature to set the tone of the carnivore experience is the house cocktail the ‘Dawa’ (medicine or magic potion in Swahili)- based on a famous Brazilian drink. It is delivered on a portable tray by the medicine man fittingly named Dr. Dawa.
The atmosphere combines the rustic feel of a rural environment of a medieval banqueting hall. This was accomplished by the use of rough-hewn beams and local woods.
A vegetarian menu is also offered.
This should take 3 hours.
